'This Is Where It Ends' is a raw story about a high school shooting. That statement makes it sound like a simple book but there is nothing simple or easy about this book. Let me start by praising that beautiful cover that really captures the essence of the book.

The book jumps right into the drama and the story last for a time frame of only 54 minutes. The narration jumps from character to character, which gives it a fast rhythm and a dynamic movement to the story. The multiple POV allows us to experience the shooting from inside and outside the school. Also we can feel the different emotions each one has and little by little we complete the puzzle. The writing is easy to follow, natural and the dialogues are good too.

The author did a really good job creating the right atmosphere; you can feel the anguish, fear, despair and terror on the auditorium. There is a character that stands out and is, for me, the hero of the book and his actions made me cry once. If an author achieves to make me cry or share a tear, the book takes an extra point on my list.

I took one star down because there are some questions left unanswered and the shooter’s motivations are not clear and what little we know about why he decided to kill others is not enough. I would have like to read his version of the events.
