“When he asked me to forgive him for everything I thought I could. I said yes and I meant it. But I didn’t realise that night, everything was what he’d take away.”
When Billie May Worthington falls for Evan Skylark she believes she’d do anything, be anything and give everything for him. But can she forgive him when he asks for her world?
Everything twenty one year old Billie knows about life, love, beauty and art are challenged after graduation when she meets Evan, an enigmatic Irish artist with a dark side. Suddenly immersed in Evan’s intense world of artistic brilliance, flying sculptures and sexual obsession, Billie’s carefully planned future is quickly unrecognisable. Spanning London, Paris, Scotland and finally St. Cloud, the South Pacific island they make their home, the young couple chase Evans dreams and run from their past.
But what happens to young obsessive love when unplanned pregnancy reshapes the future? As Billie struggles to cope with the demands of motherhood Evan is forced to deal with the repercussions of a previous mistake that rock their world altering the future forever.
Emotionally gripping and darkly humorous Skylark is an unconventional love story.
A novel about what we do for love, of beauty in imperfection, betrayal and the weight of obsession.

Skylark is one of those books that once you finish it you are not sure on how to move on. Your life is suddenly shaken and after experience a heartbreaking, emotional and extraordinary story, life seems somehow different.

The story between Billie and Evan is more than a romance. It's a story about life and the curving balls the bitch throws in our way. It’s an intense read with excellent characters, a writing style worthy of all the praise you can imagine and on top of that it has a smart and solid storyline.

When we start reading Skylark, Billie and Evan are living in paradise, St. Cloud, but a storm takes us back to the past to see how the two got together. They met just when she was out of college, a twenty-one woman with the world ahead of her but destiny decides to put Evan on her way. He is a force of nature, passionate and overwhelming. An artist haunted by internal demons that lives with the same intensity he loves. Their love story is fast, powerful, obsessive and intense.

Billie is a young woman with a great heart, strong and loving. She loves Evan with all her heart and that scares her but also gives her strength whenever is necessary. Evan is a tormented person but he doesn’t know it, he deeply loves Billie and I think he tries to prove it the best way he knows.

The novel takes us through all of their choices, their mistakes, their happy moments and the bad ones. No one second in their lives is boring. Young love, dreams and romantic locations like Scotland and Paris get together to create the scenario of this story. We see them mature, change, fall apart and getting back together again.

Skylark is the perfect example that every event in our lives is connected to other in some way. Our choices and mistakes shape us into the person we are today and sometimes the consequences of our errors come to the present to shake our lives.

The emotional ride the author presents us is not for the fragile hearts. Through her words we feel real emotions. It was easy to relate to the love, the desperation, the doubt, the fear and everything else. Billie loves Evan and she is willing to give him the world, go to the moon and back and forgive him anything. And that is so honest because love makes us do crazy things and when we love we are willing to risk it all.

This book is very recommendable and I can assure you will drop a tear at some point.
