First Audio-review: Dragon's Oath

I'm so glad my first audiobook experience was so good. When my friend gifted me it, I knew I had to listen Dragon's Oath ASAP. For a non-native English speaker, audiobooks are a great way to improve our pronunciation and vocabulary. I hope more audiobooks will be on my future.

About the novel, I don't know why I didn't read it sooner.
Dragon's Oath (House of Night Novellas #1)
by P.C. Cast, Kristin Cast, Caitlin Davies (reading).

In early 19th century England, long before he’s a professor at the Tulsa House of Night, Bryan Lankford is a troublesome yet talented human teen who thinks he can get away with anything… until his father, a wealthy nobleman, has finally had enough, and banishes him to America. When Bryan is Marked on the docks and given the choice between the London House of Night and the dragon-prowed ship to America, he chooses the Dragon – and a brand new fate.

Becoming a Fledgling may be exciting, but it opens a door to a dangerous world.... In 1830’s St. Louis, the Gateway to the West, Dragon Lankford becomes a Sword Master, and soon realizes there are both frightening challenges and beautiful perks. Like Anastasia, the captivating young Professor of Spells and Rituals at the Tower Grove House of Night, who really should have nothing to do with a fledgling…

But when a dark power threatens, Dragon is caught in its focus. Though his uncanny fighting skills make him a powerful fledgling, is he strong enough to ward off evil, while protecting Anastasia as well? Will his choices save her—or destroy them all?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dragon’s Oath is the first novella of House of Night. This one is about Dragon, the sword Master, a minor character in the main series who takes the leading role in a fantastic story.

A book that starts in the present day but travels way back to the Master's youth and shows us how he joined his first House of Night and give us the chance to be participants of a wonderful love story. In the eighteen hundreds we witness an exciting, fast passing and short story.

Bryan Lankford, A.K.A Dragon, was an arrogant young man when he was marked and only sixteen, 3 years later, now in America, he meets Anastasia. Professor of Spells and Rituals, Anastasia is a young woman whose ability has helped her earn a place as a young teacher, she is a shy but very talent with spells. Different circumstances will make their paths meet but as soon as it happens sparks will fly, love will blossom and their personalities will be tested. With sweet and fun dialogues we get to know two characters that will win your heart.

Fast, engaging and with action are some of the adjectives that could described the novella. This is a book with some revelations that will stop your heart and leave you speechless.

The atmosphere of that time is well described and easy to picture what causes an instant travel to a different place. If you love eighteen century and stories set in that era you will enjoy this book. And if you are a fan of The House of Night I can assure you that this book won’t be a waste of time.

The audiobook version is AMAZING, narrated with a smooth rhythm with different voices and excellent performances of the different accents and idioms. You will enjoy of approximately 3 hours of emotions.
