Review: Kitty Hawk and the Mystery of the Masterpieces @kittyhawkworld

TITLE: Kitty Hawk and the Mystery of the Masterpieces
SERIES: Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency #5
AUTHOR: Iain Reading
RELEASE DATE: February 14th 2015
FORMAT: paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

Kitty Hawk and the Mystery of the Masterpieces is the eagerly anticipated fifth instalment of the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency book series. This series features the intrepid teenage seaplane pilot and amateur detective Kitty Hawk as she continues in the footsteps of Nancy Drew and Amelia Earhart on her epic flight around the world.
After meeting up with an old friend in the eternal city of Rome, Kitty Hawk unexpectedly stumbles (almost literally) into a bizarre mystery involving creepy disembodied voices, secret hidden rooms, unbreakable mathematical codes, ominous chain-smoking strangers and an array of plundered artworks by such famous masters as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and Vincent van Gogh - all of it wrapped up and entwined in an enigmatic riddle hanging in plain sight right in front of everyone's noses.
With the help of friends both old and new, Kitty Hawk follows a trail of cryptic clues that leads her on a breathless tour across a quintessentially European landscape - from ancient Roman Italy to the darkest corners of Germany, Austria and beyond.
As with the previous books in the series, this new installment is perfect for firing the imaginations of readers of all ages. Filled with fascinating and highly Google-able locations and history, this exhilarating adventure will have armchair explorers and amateur detectives alike anxiously following every twist and turn as they attempt to help Kitty Hawk try and solve the extraordinarily bizarre Mystery of the Masterpieces.

Kitty Hawk is now in Rome and her friend Charlie happens to be there too. As usual, she and her friend will manage to end up caught in an adventure and solving mysteries. They meet two friendly siblings who invite them to their house. A simple invitation will the start point for the new quest. Stolen paintings, Second World War, Spies, and cryptic radio messages will be the mix for this book.

Kitty seems more mature in every new book, I can see her now as a grown-up young woman with a bright future ahead. Charlie is a great partner in this installment and I love that despite they have a great relationship, it was not necessary to add a romantic element to it.

This one is the darkest books in the series, it had more serious moments, especially because of the places she visits, the topics it includes and what's behind the stolen paintings.

Another great book in the series. I love Kitty and would love to read more about her.

Review: Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic @kittyhawkworld

TITLE: Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic
SERIES: Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency #4
AUTHOR: Iain Reading
RELEASE DATE: February 15th 2014
FORMAT: paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

This fourth book in the series brings Kitty to the emerald hills of Ireland where she meets a handsome stranger and is quickly swept up in a perplexing hundred-year-old family treasure hunt involving secret codes and puzzling clues that lead her on a fast-paced adventure that carries her from Dublin to London - from the decks of the ill-fated ocean liner Titanic to the temples of ancient Egypt and the streets of Jack the Ripper - until she finally unlocks the mystery and discovers the long-hidden treasure. Much like the earlier books in this series, Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic is a perfect book to fire the imaginations of armchair detectives of all ages. Filled with fascinating and highly Google-able locations and history the reader will find themselves immersed in brand new worlds that are brought to life before their very eyes as Kitty Hawk experiences the stories and history of a doomed ocean liner and unravels the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic

Kitty Hawk continues in her flight around the world and this time she arrives in Ireland where she meets a lovely and handsome young man who needs her help to find a treasure lost in the legendary Titanic. A series of discoveries and travels to London, Dublin and other places will unravel secrets, hidden stories, and lots of forgotten facts about the ship and its passengers.

It's been a while since I've read the previous book but once I've started reading it felt like no time had passed by, it was like meeting an old friend after a while. Kitty is a strong, intelligent and human young woman. She is one of those people you want to keep in your life, her sense of adventure and desire to help others takes her in the craziest and most incredible journeys.

It only took me a day to read it, the suspense and intrigue kept me reading for hours. I couldn't stop, I wanted to know more and more. And every new clue brought more action to the story. And there were so many facts I didn't know about the Titanic and what happened after the sinking that every new revelation was a pleasant surprise.

I love the book and jumped right into the next one. Iain created an excellent character and writes the best adventures. Kitty is definitely one of my favorite fictional woman in the world.

Review: Sexual Misconduct @bethanybazile

TITLE:Sexual Misconduct
SERIES: The Complete Series
AUTHOR: Bethany Bazile
RELEASE DATE: August 5th 2014
PUBLISHER: Bethany Bazile
FORMAT: Paperback & ebook

Volume I: Insomnia
I was arrogant, pushy, controlling, and I was fine with that. What I couldn't control were my dreams. Memories haunted me there.
Even after over a decade, I found I couldn't outrun them. Returning to the place they lived only seemed to trigger a landslide. I couldn't focus, couldn't sleep. Some people drank a warm cup of milk, cuddled up with a book, or threw back a couple shots.
I fucked my way to sleep.
Every single night, I lost myself in pussy. For a long time, it was the only way I knew to get to sleep. But it was getting less and less effective. I slept shorter periods of time before the dreams started.
There was only one hope for my insomnia, and she was sexy, intelligent, and unexpected. I wanted to exhaust myself in her sexy little body and let her soothe me to sleep.
The only problem... she was my therapist, and I'd have to break her code of conduct and totally corrupt her before I made her mine.

Volume II: Underneath It All
Avery was unexpected but exactly what I needed. She gave me hope again, made me feel things I thought died over a decade ago.
I was reverting back to the man I used to be. The man who destroyed lives to keep the one person who meant everything to him.
My secrets were piling up. I didn't know how long I'd be able to maintain it all.
But I knew I'd do anything to keep her.
There was only one way to hold on to her. I had to let her see who I was underneath it all.

Volume III: Lie To Me
It was all too much. There was no way I could keep piling up these lies without it all tumbling down.
I was desperate to keep her, even if it meant I had to lie to her. But when everything unravels, the only thing that can save us is the truth in our love.

Bethany Bazile reads, writes, and lives in the Northeast with her husband and two amazing kids. Her passion for writing was born from a love affair between books and music. She loves books that draw her in and won’t release her until she’s inhaled every word, panting with excitement. Then she realizes the sun came up, but the loss of sleep was so worth it. When she isn't reading, she’s conjuring up steamy love scenes and hot romance stories to share with fellow romance lovers. She can’t function without her cup of coffee and operates on a vampire-like time-frame.

Xander has been having problems to sleep for years and his remedy is sex, but it only works for a while, nightmares still hunt him and it taking its toll on him. When some woman advised him to visit a therapist he seems reluctant at first but ends up going and give it a try. Of course that when he sees the sexy woman behind the desk all of his control goes out of the window. Avery is a professional who never had problems doing her work but Xander pushes all of her buttons.

Avery and Xander will start a crazy relationship full of passion, heat, secrets, and so many sex scenes that my reader almost burnt out. I really enjoyed the sex element of this story. If you have a fragile heart, be careful!!! It's amazing how much passion the writer can transmit with her words. Their interaction is HOT and so sexy, I was so dragged by it that hours flew by.

The plot is good, a bit predictable for me, but solid and complete nevertheless. The author reveals the secrets at the right moments to create suspense and bring tension to the story. I really liked that the three volumes were together in just one book because I couldn't stop reading and would have hated waiting for the next book.

Review: Tequila & Tea Bags @BarnardLaura

TITLE: Tequila & Tea Bags
AUTHOR: Laura Barnard
RELEASE DATE:January 2017
PUBLISHER:Amazon Digital Services
FORMAT: paperback & ebook

Sent to live with her cousin Elsie in the Yorkshire countryside, Rose has only one thing on her mind; joining her friends as a club rep in Mexico.

When she hears about a council incentive offering the promise of free flights to the person who clocks the most volunteering hours at the local care home, she’s got her plan set.
But she doesn’t plan on bonding with the old ladies, going after the village bad boy and trying to persuade Elsie not to become a Nun.

Soon she’s questioning who her real friends are and whether her old life is one she wants to return to.

Can the village win her over and will she win the chance to leave it behind? Will she even want to?

Laura Barnard lives in Hertfordshire, UK and writes romantic comedy or 'chick lit' as its so often described. In her spare time she enjoys drinking her body weight in tea, indulging in cupcakes the size of her face and drooling over hunks like Jamie Dornan, Ryan Gosling and Leo Dicaprio.

She enjoys wearing yoga pants and reading fitness magazines while sitting on the sofa eating chocolate. She's a real fan of the power nap and of course READING!

She writes not to get rich or famous, but because she LOVES writing. Even if one person tells her they enjoyed her book it makes the midnight typing worth it!

Rose is a young woman who enjoys parties, sleeping around and have fun. It doesn't sound so bad (having fun is not wrong) but her parents think she could do something more with her life so they send her to live with a cousin in a small town. She is desperate to fly away from there so volunteering for hours in a local care home in exchange for a free flight seems like her best option. However, little by little she will learn important life lessons and will discover that maybe this little town is not so bad after all.

Rose is not a bad character but is not my favorite either, she is a twenty-three-year-old woman who seems a bit superficial and shallow. She needs a good dose of reality and is what she gets when she moves. Her cousin, a future nun, is a sweet character and acts as a big sister for Rose. There are other characters who add some variety to the story, each one bringing something different to the story.

If you ask me why the two stars?  Well...  I didn't love the book, it was just ok. The story was a bit predictable, the romance was good but also predictable.

The book is easy to read and it's a good choice if you are looking for something simple and light to read.

Review: Filthy Beautiful Lies @KendallRyan1

TITLE: Filthy Beautiful Lies
SERIES: Filthy Beautiful Lies #1
AUTHOR: Kendall Ryan
RELEASE DATE: March 2016 (first published August 18th, 2014)
PUBLISHER: Kendall Ryan Books
FORMAT: paperback & ebook

I have no idea why she auctioned off her virginity for a cool mill. Regardless, I’m now the proud new owner of a perfectly intact hymen. A lot of good that will do me. I have certain tastes, certain sexual proclivities. My cock is a bit more discriminatory than most. And training a virgin takes finesse and patience – both of which I lack.
Sophie Evans has been backed into a corner. With her sister’s life hanging in the balance, the only choice is to claw her way out, even if that means selling her virginity to the highest bidder at an exclusive erotic club. When Colton Drake takes her home, she quickly learns nothing is as it seems with this beautifully troubled man. Being with him poses challenges she never expected, and pushes her to want things she never anticipated.

A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of more than two dozen titles, Kendall Ryan has sold over 2 million books and her books have been translated into several languages in countries around the world. Her books have also appeared on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists more than three dozen times. Ryan has been featured in such publications as USA Today, Newsweek, and InTouch Magazine. She lives in Texas with her husband and two sons.

Sophie has decided to help her sister no matter what so she enters a new world where auctioning her virginity is possible for a very good price. Colton Drake is searching for something and has decided that Sophie can be what he needs. Their arrangement is supposed to be a business transaction but, of course, feelings and emotions will get in the middle and things will get complicated.

Sophie is the typical innocent but spicy heroine. She doesn't trust Colton but as time moves on she gets to know a side of him that is not so bad. Colton is a strange character, he is the typical handsome, rich, powerful man whose heart was hurt in the past and now has a hard time trusting women. I didn't like him and that is odd, I kept reading waiting for the explanation of some of his actions but there was none.

As you imagine the book has some sex scenes and a strong erotic element which I enjoyed quite a bit but still was not enough to make me love the story. There were some aspects of the plot that were too unreal for my taste. I know this is fiction and trust me I've felt in love with books craziest plots, I'm all about fiction, I love fiction that's why I read but sometimes it's too much. There were so many things that sounded forced that it was hard to really like it. And the cliffhanger at the end was good but predictable.

I get why some people may like it or love it even, but this one was not for me.

Callum Archer is the lucky father of two lovely daughters but his job always comes first and his kids only want to have fun. In this sweet romance, personalities will collide to give birth to an entertaining, funny and easy to read story.

The relationship between Londyn and Callum is everything you can expect for two people that seem to be opposite sides of a coin. Carefree and colorful Londyn is exactly what Callum doesn´t want to be involved with, but their attraction is undeniable so the tension is always present. They share many funny scenes, and little by little their relationship evolves into something more.

Overall, this one is a nice romance that will only take you a few hours or days to read. If you want something sweet with a lovely HEA this one is for you. I liked the writing style, it was enjoyable and easy to follow.
