4 ideas to maximize the value of your newsletter signup form

Hello everyone, I know it's been a while but here we go again.
I was contacted to do a guest post and I had to find something that catch my eye to post about. So while navigatinfg throug the page I found this:

4 ideas to maximize the value of your newsletter signup form

And trust me, I been wondering for years how to create and effective and fun newsletter. Maybe this post helps you as much as it did to me.

Does your company send out an email newsletter? Do you spend lots of time and money on making it the best possible newsletter you can?

If so, you’re probably making every effort to funnel prospects into your newsletter’s signup form. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean people are actually signing up for it.

4 ways to improve your email newsletter form

One of the most overlooked facets of creating a successful email newsletter campaign is the actual form itself—the one people have to fill out in order to become subscribers.
Companies spare no expense when it comes to the funnel that precedes it and the content that comes after, but the form often gets overlooked.
So, if you’re not seeing as many people signing up as you would like, consider the following four ways you could improve what might be the bottleneck, your form.

1. Create compelling copy based on your newsletter’s offer.

Although it might seem like just about every company these days has an email newsletter, that doesn’t mean they’re all the same.
Does your newsletter offer the exact same value as that of a competitor?
Then, it’s vital that you use copy to explain what makes your newsletter stand out in the form. It should outline exactly what recipients have to look forward to if they decide to provide their email addresses.
Don’t assume your entire audience simply sees the intrinsic value in a newsletter. Instead, be specific. If possible, include what current recipients have said about the value you offer.

While lead magnets can boost subscriptions, don’t forego compelling copy in the form itself. Otherwise, many people may simply provide their address for the magnet and then immediately unsubscribe.

2. The design/UX of your email newsletter form

Is your newsletter form user-friendly?
Just like with the rest of your site, if your form doesn’t follow UX best practices, you may still see some interest, but it won’t be nearly as much as you’d enjoy if your form was more intuitive.
One of the easiest ways to do this is by allowing people to use social login credentials to sign up for your newsletter. Instead of making people remember yet another password, let them click on the social platform of their choice to quickly sign up for your newsletter. It couldn’t be any easier.
If you do need to use multiple fields, consider a platform like Garlic.js, which automatically saves the text for them. That way, if someone makes a mistake and needs to reenter information, they only need to do it for one box, not the entire form – something that is sure to chase away a potential subscriber.
Finally, choose a minimalist template. While compelling text is important, a bunch of graphic bells-and-whistles are not. You don’t want any distractions between the user and a completed form.

3. Where the email newsletter form lives on the site

It’s never been easier to add an email newsletter form to your website. The challenge is knowing where it should go to see the most attention and garner the most signups.
In essence, this form is no different than other CTAs that might be on your website. As such, it’s imperative that you not display it where it wouldn’t make sense. At best, this mistake will simply fail to boost subscriptions. At worst, you’ll turn off potential subscribers to the idea of signing up.

A prime example of this is using pop-up ads. Although there is evidence these ads can work, for most companies, it’s best to avoid them at all costs. Most people aren’t going to sign up for your newsletter simply because an ad shows up the minute they visit your website.

Again, think of traditional CTA. Where do you tend to put them for best results? For the most part, they come after high-quality content, right?

That’s why you should pair your signup forms with content upgrades. Once a prospective subscriber is done reading a well-written, informative post, they’ll be ready for more, especially if all they need to do is provide you their email address (or, better yet, click a social login link) to get it.

4. The data fields in your email newsletter form

How many data fields should you include on your newsletter form?

This is a very common question.

Fortunately, the answer is a simple one: as many as it takes to segment your audience.

For some of you, this may not be an issue. If you’re just starting out with your list, you probably haven’t been able to segment it yet. In that case, give people the opportunity to sign up with a single click through a social login.

On the other hand, if you do have different segments, include enough fields in your form to address them through different newsletters.

Do not overdo it, though.

Many companies use their forms to gather information they don’t actually need to properly serve each segment. They ask about age, marital status, location, and a whole host of other traits that may help improve their marketing but isn’t necessary for providing a newsletter.

Back in 2013, at the MarketingSherpa Lead Gen Summit, a test proved that each additional field decreases conversions by 11%. That likely hasn’t improved much over the years, so keep it simple.

It’s just not worth losing recipients who don’t want to go through this entire process. Ask for what you need and leave it at that.

Prioritize your email newsletter form

If you value the potential of your email newsletter, you need to also value the importance of the form people must complete in order to subscribe.

Until you do, the success of your email newsletter will never reach its potential. You’ll never put it in front of as many people as you otherwise could.

However, while it’s always wise to continuously test for better results, optimizing your form based on the above advice is a one-time investment. After that, you can put your focus back on the newsletter itself, confident that you’re not missing out on a much larger audience.

Ok, I know it speaks much about "A company" but a blog is like our little baby so we need to think of it as a company to do a good job with it. And it might sound easy but I know for experience that if you want to do a good job and create a solid blog, you need to have a professional view of things.

In ancient Greece, one of the twelve labours of Heracles was to bring back a golden apple from the Garden of Hesperides. To archaeologist Oriel Anderson, joining a team of Greek divers on the island of Helios seems like the golden apple of her dreams. Yet the dream becomes a nightmare when she meets the devilish owner of the island, Damian Lekkas. In shocked recognition, she is flooded with the memory of a romantic night in a stranger’s arms, six summers ago. A very different man stands before her now, and Oriel senses that the sardonic Greek autocrat is hell-bent on playing a cat and mouse game with her. As they cross swords and passions mount, Oriel is aware that malevolent eyes watch her from the shadows. Dark rumours are whispered about the Lekkas family. What dangers lie in Helios, a bewitching land where ancient rituals are still enacted to appease the gods, young men risk their lives in the treacherous depths of the Ionian Sea, and the volatile earth can erupt at any moment? Will Oriel find the hidden treasures she seeks? Or will Damian’s tragic past catch up with them, threatening to engulf them both?

Hannah Fielding is an incurable romantic. The seeds for her writing career were sown in early childhood, spent in Egypt, when she came to an agreement with her governess Zula: for each fairy story Zula told, Hannah would invent and relate one of her own. Years later – following a degree in French literature, several years of travelling in Europe, falling in love with an Englishman, the arrival of two beautiful children and a career in property development – Hannah decided after so many years of yearning to write that the time was now. Today, she lives the dream: writing full time at her homes in Kent, England, and the South of France, where she dreams up romances overlooking breath-taking views of the Mediterranean.

To date, Hannah has published five novels: Burning Embers, ‘romance like Hollywood used to make’, set in Kenya; the award-winning Echoes of Love, ‘an epic love story that is beautifully told’ set in Italy; and the Andalucian Nights trilogy (Indiscretion, Masquerade and Legacy), set in sultry Spain.

Hannah has done it again, she wrote a book that got me hooked from the beginning. She created a book of more than 500 pages that feels short for all the emotions it contains. Drama, romance and beautiful scenarios, mix to create one incredible story.

Oriel gets a position in a dream job any other archaeologist would love. Excited by the opportunity she arrives in Greece only to meet Damian Lekkas. An encounter years before still haunts her and the attraction is undeniable. They will have to put their professional priorities before their chemistry even though it is really difficult for them. Their relationship is exciting, intriguing and emotional. It's easy to get lost in the reading and you want more and more of them.

As all books by Hannah, this one is full of drama, secrets, and tension. The past always comes to disturb the present and we have to learn how it affects the characters.

The writing is magnificent, the descriptions are vivid and colorful. It's easy to picture the scenarios and the beauty of it.

If you like romance, this one is a MUST. Another great addition to Hanna's list of excellent books.

Review: Bitten

In the not-too-distant future, Italy is in disarray. It has voted to leave the EU in an attempt to regain control of its laws, finances and commerce. Even so, the country's economy is shrinking and its national debt rising. There is a marked escalation, too, in unemployment, bank loans and immigration. Production and service companies are in difficulty. The only thriving business areas are the black market and organised crime. There is discontent and protest on all sides. In Florence, the local Mafia boss, more accustomed to gunrunning and trading in plutonium, is involved in organising a silent auction for the sale of one of the world's most valuable lost paintings - a sixteenth-century masterpiece, which was appropriated in World War II by Stalin's Trophy Brigade. A British art expert is set to buy the picture on behalf of his client, a South American billionaire - yet surprisingly two Italian undercover intelligence agents, acting as antique dealers, submit the winning bid. All the while, human beings continue to harm the Earth by destroying land, sea, air, animals and trees. Global climate change, polluting the atmosphere, depleting the ozone layer: these are some of man's crimes against Nature. But time is running out. Nature has lost patience with humans. Unless something is done immediately to reverse the destruction of the ecosystem, Nature will retaliate by deploying the terrifying forces at her command. And as a first step in wreaking her revenge, she instigates a reign of terror by the deadliest creature on Earth.

Mosquitoes are a worldwide problem, even here in Uruguay they are a threat in certain seasons. These little devils bring chaos in fear when people start to get sick by their bite. Now, imagine a future Italy where on top of economical problems you start to witness the consequences of global warming and all the damage we have done to Earth. Huge mosquitoes and mayhem start to happen and Claudia is the one that could have all the answers. And.. also add a stolen piece of art of invaluable price, the mafia, black market, betrayal, blackmail, violence, and death...  I mean, we have a varied mix.

I don't know why but somehow the different themes and plots work together to create an intriguing and fascinating story. It seems that the only thing linking the stories is that the characters are all connected or related. But still, the story feels as one despite the fact that we have a story about nature and global warming on one side and a story about the mafia, stolen art and the black market on the other.

The characters are really great. I loved Claudia, she is really smart, real and human. Her personality is amazing, a totally independent woman who knows what she wants. The mobsters are really violent and cruel, totally believable. The rest of the characters are also really great.

I have to mention that some scenes are a bit strong, not only some that involve sex, there is a lot of violence too. Of course, if the mafia is involved you can expect some hard moments.

I enjoyed Alan's writing, is easy to read, interesting and solid. The book is something different and was very enjoyable.

If you can read this book immediately after reading Old Enough, you have to do it. It's the perfect way to really grab the story and don't miss a thing.

Just when I thought I knew everything the story goes crazy and I was bombarded with discoveries, buried secrets coming to light, people getting hurt and love fighting with all its power to survive. Jane and Brian deserve a happy ending and little by little their relationship grow to become a powerful force but nothing is indestructible.

We see Jane and Brian evolve, each one has something different to offer and they complement each other. Brian was already a mature young man but he still learning and his relationship with Jane makes him take really hard decisions. Jane also is learning how to live with this new relationship and all that it implies. This book contains much more action, drama, and suspense.

This one also gives us high doses of hot, passional and lusty sex. Jane and Brian are a couple that burns pages.

I loved this duet, both books are engaging and easy to read. The story is strong and the dual POV in both books makes it great to see the story from a wide angle.

I’ve found the one–my perfect match–my equal.
Come hell or high-water Ivy is mine

Ivy has been trying to prove she is better than where she comes from, trying to avenge her sister's death and dealing with the consequences of a horrible past. Growing up with an addictive and abusive mother has taken a toll in Ivy and now she meets the man who can save her only if she allows it. Zane has never let himself love or feel loved until he meets Ivy. Despite all odds, these two are perfect for each other but first, they will have to accept what brought them together.

The story starts and goes straight into the action, they meet and we immediately discover how Ivy and Zane's paths are connected. Chapter after chapter we see their relationship grow and we see how they try to catch the bad guy. Their chemistry is undeniable and together they almost burnt my reader with their hot, passional and lusty scenes. I enjoyed very much reading about them and their relationship.

The plot is quite solid and it's easy to follow. The writing is really good and the characters have great personalities. The Alpha male component is strong and for those who love dominant, protective and sexy male leaders, well... this book has enough.

I have to remark that despite being book four in a series you can totally read this one as a standalone, I can speak from experience because I haven't read any of the other three books and I could grasp the story without difficulty. There are some characters that I'm sure come from previous books and whose stories are briefly recounted but still you won't we feel lost.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would love to have some more.

Review: Shadow Chaser @Aaron_Speer

TITLE: Shadow Chaser
SERIES: Undeadly Secrets #3
AUTHOR: Aaron L. Speer
RELEASE DATE: April 18th, 2017
FORMAT: Paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

No victory comes without cost. For Alexandra Hensley, that cost was crippling. She has no time to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart as another test of courage looms; the nightmare no one saw coming.
The Shadow Killer is unlike anything Alex has encountered.
As vampire allies join the hunt for him, she realises the paranormal is no longer being hidden. The secret is out and spilling onto the streets.
When it seems they are closing in on the killer, his true intent is discovered.
There is a way to defeat him. There is always a way. But there is always a price. Time is running out and the choice must be made. What would you give up to save the person you love the most?

I've been writing since I was around 11, and have rarely been seen without staring off into the distance or with a pen in my hand ever since.

Whatever my genre I happen to be writing at the time, I am passionate about bringing this beautiful country I live in, Australia, to light. (Hint hint...even if that includes epic fantasy and vampires)

2014 saw the release of Night Walker, book 1 of the Undeadly Secrets series.
2016 saw book 2 Day Dreamer released along with The Independents; a short thriller about self publishing gone horribly wrong.
2017 saw both the third book Shadow Chaser released alongside Independents II and the news Night Walker had won the Golden Stake Award at the Transylvania International Vampire Film and Fiction Festival.

WEBSITE  FACEBOOK | TWITTER | GOODREADS | AMAZON|

Shadow Chaser begins right where we left off in Day Dreamer, and it's a non-stop ride full of action, emotion, and discoveries. I enjoyed this book much more than the previous one and now I need the fourth installment. One thing I really liked about the story, in general, is the sub-plots and undergoing stories, we have different points of view and scenes going on at the same time but it all fit perfectly.

Nicole had an important role in book two but I think that now she is key to what's next. Her situation brings new "complications" and her life is interest for many actors. I like the evolution we see in most of the characters. This time we have a really dark force, that has been acting since previous books but now we know who/what is and what it wants.

I really enjoyed this book, the author continues using his good writing and talent to create a solid and detailed story.
