TITLE: Old Enough
SERIES: The Age Between Us #1
AUTHOR: Charmaine Pauls
RELEASE DATE: July 17th 2018
FORMAT: Paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

I’m old enough to drive a car, buy alcohol, and enter a club.
I’m old enough to take responsibility for my actions.
I’m old enough for her.
No matter what her middle-aged friends or society says.
No matter she’s the age of my mother.
No matter why or how I met her.
I’ll take those secrets to my grave.
And her with them.
If those secrets don’t ruin us first.

Charmaine Pauls was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. She obtained a degree in Communication at the University of Potchestroom, and followed a diverse career path in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, photography, graphic design, and brand marketing. Her writing has always been an integral part of her professions.

After relocating to Chile with her French husband, she fulfilled her passion to write creatively full-time. Charmaine has published nine novels since 2011, as well as several short stories and articles. Two of her shorts have been selected by the International Literary Society for an anthology from across the African continent.

When she is not writing, she likes to travel, read, and rescue cats. Charmaine currently lives in France with her husband and children. Their household is a linguistic mélange of Afrikaans, English, French and Spanish.

Jane and Brian story couldn't be further from conventional. A twentyish young man, a fortyish divorce woman with a teenager daughter and lots of baggage. A man offering money to seduce the woman just for revenge and a man who likes dark, hard and passional sex, ok... let's see how all of this works.

Jane has a perfect life, a husband, a daughter, her lovely house and a solid job. But when it all starts to crumble little by little, she meets Brian. They have a weird a first encounter, with him breaking into her house to use her pool. Litlle by little he starts to enter her life, offering help she much needs and then waking up a part of her that she thought was dead.

Their chemistry is undeniable, whenever they meet the tension becomes too much and fire threats with breaking in. Brian is a dominant and possessive man who will stop at nothing to make Jane his. The sex scenes are full of passion, desire, and lust.

Jane and Brian have to face many obstacles in their relationship, not only because of the age gap but because Jane wants it to be a secret and for now it works.

The book ends leaving you waiting for what's next, so you definitely need to read the second book. I love Charmaine writing, she is really good at creating amazing characters and solid plots. This one is just another proof that she is an excellent writer.

Review: The Unstoppables: Food Police

TITLE: The Unstoppables: Food Police
AUTHOR: Demetrius Sherman
RELEASE DATE: August 11, 2018
FORMAT: Ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

When the government bans foods people crave, it creates a world wilder than ever. A gangster producing decadent grub rules Chicago. And a special force of young men assemble to battle the mobster : The Unstoppables.
PRE-ORDER: AMAZON

Growing up, Demetrius Sherman read Hammett, Chandler, Conan Doyle and other masters of hard-boiled detectives. These works were excellent seeds in the creation of the fast-paced Sheridan Hope Thrillers and the vampire thriller Dark Hunger.
His latest work is a suspenseful horror tale titled The Hunters.

Imagine a world where fast and fatty food is banned... can you??? I think it would be crazyyyy. And I think Demetrius Sherman does a good job creating a funny and believable world where this sounds real.

Of course that when you banned something there will be people trying to take advantage of the situation and all kind of crazy events will take place. Here we have gangsters, the police trying to catch them, regular people who crave fatty food and all kinds of wackos.

The chapters are super short so it's easy to read and Demetrius has a writing style that catches you and never feels too hard to follow. If you are looking for a book with an interesting and original topic this one is a good choice.

*** Warning: This book contains sexual violence that may be a trigger for some readers. This is a work of fiction and not meant to offend or misrepresent any situations. ***

"Literature is my passion. I like to challenge myself and grow in my writings. I have many unfinished books and some that have been published under a different name. Why I chose to do this is because of my writing growth and the differentiation in genre. I don't want my future books to be judged by the inexperience of my past writings. Though I love those books, they came out of nowhere and it's apparent in the writings they were a first draft from someone with no experience.

My passions include the arts--music, photography, writing, dance, painting, films, architecture, anything that is creation. There is not much I don't like; and if I don't like it, I at least appreciate the process that took place to create it. This is something incorporated in all my books. I've known so many talented people, and truly believe no one is without a talent. Everyone has something ingrained in them; just naturally gives them the ability to create new life in the form of art.

In my spare time, which is basically non-existent between my day job and writing, I enjoy being out in nature, traveling, spending time with family, and reading. I read everything, from contemporary to paranormal, from historical romance to erotica, from history to science. Learning is something very important to me. I really do learn something new every day, my brain storing so much useless to life-saving information. My brain, the sponge."

Rating: 4.5 stars

There is always a book that contains a story that follows you around once you have finished it. This book is one of those, the story is so powerful and emotional that it takes your mind and soul on a journey from where is hard to come back. "Dare, Lies and Geminis" is not only a really dark and tormented, it's also a beautiful and human story about broken souls.

I think I cannot write about the story without giving something away so I will only say that the plot is well thought, it's solid and perfect. It gives you surprises at the right moments, it has flashbacks when needed and the reader builds the world around the characters without any effort.

And now about the characters, they are all amazing. Kat writes about human and loveable people, it's easy to fall for them, you want to protect them from their demons and help them any way you can. Their flaws and past make them the pillar of the story.

Everything the author put in the warning is true, the book contains sexual scenes and also violence (not only sexual) but is part of the story and was necessary to create this powerful book.

If you are looking for an emotional ride you should read this one.

Review: Trusting the Law @rcarrington2004

TITLE: Trusting The Law
AUTHOR: Rachel Carrington
RELEASE DATE: May 26th, 2018
FORMAT: Ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

ADD TO GOODREADS
The last person Grace needs to fall in love with is a police officer, especially since she breaks the law every day. Running a speakeasy wasn’t her first choice, but making money is. With the price of hooch at an all-time premium, the money is more than enough to pay for her uncle’s expensive medication and the bills. She doubts Officer Paul Gordon will see things the same way.
Paul is enchanted with the chestnut-haired woman he runs into on a cold, Chicago street, and that enchantment quickly turns to more. If someone were to tell him she was a criminal, he’d never believe it. Then he sees it for himself. When Grace is arrested, he must make a decision—protect her or his badge.

I've been writing for over thirty years and though I've written paranormal, fantasy, and science fiction, I've since then shifted my focus to suspense novels and young adult. My suspense novels still tend to have a little romance in them, but my young adult novels deal more with social issues and heroines facing life dilemmas.

I live in Charleston, SC, a city which was recently named the #1 city in the world by Travel & Leisure Magazine, and I have to say, I agree. It's a fabulous place to live. Close to the beach, great restaurants, fabulous shopping, cobblestone streets, and historic homes and buildings. It's a step back into history!

I hope you enjoy reading my books and feel free to email me if you have any questions!

During prohibition, a woman decides to play with fire and makes a living out of illegal activities. Of course, she has good intentions and is not just a criminal. She has a really sick uncle who needs her help. And to make things more interesting, a police officer notices her and decides to fall for her.

Trusting the Law is a simple, easy to read and sweet story about two people who shouldn't fall for each other but they do it anyway.

The story is quite short and it has all the ingredients to be a good romance. It has a few steamy moments and a great ending.

Review: The Silver Six @AuthorCAGray

TITLE: The Silver Six
SERIES: Uncanny Valley #2
AUTHOR: C.A. Gray

PUBLISHER: Wanderlust Publishing
FORMAT: Paperback & ebook

ADD TO GOODREADS

What is it that makes us truly human?
Rebecca Cordeaux’s entire world has been turned upside down. In a single day, she’s learned that Senate Leader Halpert and his Board of Advisors are actually illegal humanoid robots created underground twenty years ago—and they tried to have her killed. Her mother Karen, whom she always believed to be passionately against the cause of the Renegades, turns out to be their leader. And Liam, a man she never thought she cared for, is now fighting for his life—and she finds that she cares desperately.
Fortunately Karen, known to the Renegades as M, has planned for exactly this sort of eventuality. Using Rebecca’s father’s blueprints, Karen patiently built an underground compound in an abandoned part of the Americas where they can regroup and plan for the coming war. The compound becomes an unlikely oasis as their number grows, both on accident and on purpose. In attempting to recover her best friend and companion bot Madeline, Rebecca gets what she thought she’d always wanted: Andy arrives at the compound too, along with her friends Jake and Julie. But with the sudden addition of an old flame from Liam’s past, Rebecca discovers just how little acquainted she has been with her own heart.
Meanwhile, the Silver Six are running a worldwide campaign of indoctrination to ensure that the people are on their side. In the name of peace, they want nothing more than to wipe out every shred of resistance, while pursuing their ultimate goal of robotic superintelligence. With the assistance of a neuroscientist who helped to build the Silver Six decades ago, Rebecca attempts to understand how synthetic minds work, hoping this information can be used against them. She’s sure that the mysterious, brilliant, and beautiful Alessandra Russo is the key somehow, but Alex’s hatred for the Silver Six is only matched by her hatred for the Renegades. Can the Renegades find and exploit the weakness of the Silver Six before synthetic intelligence passes the point of no return?

C.A. Gray is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), with a primary care practice in Tucson, Arizona. She has always been captivated by the power of a good story, fictional or otherwise, which is probably why she loves holistic medicine: a patient’s physical health is invariably intertwined with his or her life story, and she believes that the one can only be understood in context with the other.
Her favorite fictional tales have always been epic battles of good versus evil, with a strong tendency towards parable. An idealist herself, she has always been convinced that these stories have something deeply true to tell us about the human condition, and that is why we love them so much… or at least that’s why she does.
She still wants to be everything when she grows up. She moonlights as a college chemistry teacher (she has a degree in biochemistry, with minors in Spanish and Creative Writing), does theater when she gets the chance, sings, plays piano, was once a personal trainer and in coffee shop management. She is blessed with exceptionally supportive family and friends, and thanks God for them every single day!

I was lucky enough to read the first book just a few weeks before reading The Silver Six so the story was fresh on my mind which is something you need to follow the story. The first book ended with a lot of cliffhangers that act as a starting point for the second book. Becca has no time to analyze or think about the revelations that changed her world. After discovering the secret that killed her father and who her mother was she has to go into hiding and deal with a world that she no longers knows and also with the fact that maybe she feels more than friendship for Liam.

As any other good new adult dystopia (that feels more YA than the first book) the story is full of misunderstandings, Becca denying her feelings, Becca taking some wrong decisions and learning that maybe what she thought was going to make her happy was not what she needed.

If you read the first book you need to read the sequel. The story is well written, the characters keep on evolving and the action is always present. This book has a good dose of music which I loved!!!!

Anyway, I really enjoy C.A. Gray's writing and this series keeps getting better. I cannot wait to read the next book.

The Journey to Moonwalking Blog Tour @fayerogersuk @authoright

The Journey to Moonwalking
Kenneth S. Thomas

Summary:
By setting the goal for going to the Moon by the end of 1969, President Kennedy transformed the Soviet/U.S. arms race, with its escalating confrontations, into a "space race." Perhaps the greatest obstacle to going to the Moon was the development of the spacesuit. This is the story of human efforts, specifically the innovation, struggle, and sacrifice carried out by otherwise ordinary men and women that culminated in the spacesuit that made the first human surface explorations of the Moon possible. The success of Apollo resulted in replacing the looming specter of a possible world-devastating war with peace and cooperation in space between these two great rival nations. However, few know of all the contributions that were required to allow the first humans to set foot on and explore the Moon. Most are not aware of the magnitude and abundance of challenges to such an endeavor, let alone the solutions needed. This book represents over two decades of research, interviewing original participants, and working with other spacesuit historians to determine Apollo spacesuit contributions and contributors. The author brings a unique expertise to this historic achievement. He was a spacesuit engineer for twenty-two years and has been a consultant to national museums since 1993. Additionally, performing knowledge-capture for NASA gave the author a micro-level view into Apollo history, which provided additional enlightenment. The result is a human chronicle of the challenges, achievements, and experiences related to the most watched historical event of its time.

Review: The Sea Was a Fair Master @CalvinDemmer

TITLE: The Sea Was a Fair Master
AUTHOR: Calvin Demmer

The world’s fate lies with a comatose young girl; an android wants to remember a human she once knew under Martian skies; men at sea learn that the ocean is a realm far different from land, where an unforgiving god rules; a school security guard discovers extreme English class; and a man understands what the behemoth beneath the sea commands of him.
The Sea Was a Fair Master is a collection of 23 stories, riding the currents of fantasy, science fiction, crime, and horror. There are tales of murder, death, loss, revenge, greed, and hate. There are also tales of hope, survival, and love.
For the sea was a fair master.

Calvin Demmer is a dark fiction author. His debut collection, The Sea Was a Fair Master, was released in June 2018. When not writing, he is intrigued by that which goes bump in the night and the sciences of our universe.

The Sea Was a Fair Master is a collection of 23 stories, each one is just a few pages long but each one has its uniqueness and is worth reading. We have different genres: horror, mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, crime but they all have a common line, they have a dark aura and provocative themes. Each one of them caused some impact on me, either for the horror (I mean it wasn't scary but kind of creepy) or the shock, or a different emotion.

It was surprising to read 23 stories (about all kind of subjects) and not finding any repetition, each one is so unique that could have been written by a different author. This speaks about Calvin's writing talent, it's hard to tell a good story in 2 or 3 pages, and he managed to do it 23 TIMES!!

I had to take a couple of minutes after each story to go back to a neutral spot and read the next story without any interferences, I had to do this because each story really caused something in me.

Blog Tour: All The Pretty Girls @RileyEdwardsrom

All The Pretty Girls

A Next Generation Novel

"All the Pretty Girls keeps you on the edge of your seat. Mystery and romance twisted together in one great book."

atpg_3
MEADOW. The road was long, it was painful, and it was raw. It has taken me four years to come to terms with my new reality. A life in which I live with the daily reminders of a vicious attack that has left me scarred both emotionally and physically. Years of recovery and acceptance were torn apart and obliterated the day Special Agent Nick Clark barges into my life. He says the person who attacked me and left me for dead is back. He says I was the first victim – the one who got away. He promises to protect me. But he can’t, no one can. Nick is relentless in his pursuit and promises me the things I can’t afford to have – like hope for a future with the sexy FBI agent. But hope and love and promises can’t protect me, not when I’m next on the killer's list. NICK. Meadow Holiday is the missing piece, the woman I’ve been searching for. And it has nothing to do with her being a witness in an unsolved serial killer case I’ve had sitting on my desk for the last four years. I had no business falling in love in the middle of a murder investigation but she’s the one. I feel it deep in my bones. I knew the first time I laid eyes on the shy, beautiful woman that she was mine. Now I'm left with the daunting task of convincing her I'm enough. Can Nick save Meadow in time and prove his love can heal all wounds, or is he already too late to fix what a sadist serial killer has broken?

Fashion Couple, Dramatic image shot

OTHER BOOKS BY RILEY EDWARDS

A serial killer is the cause for Nick and Meadow to know each other, one is trying to catch this cruel and bloody person who torments women and the other is the first victim. She is the only one with enough clues to help Nick and the FBI to finally put evil behind bars.

The book has a fast rhythm and the relationship between them evolves super fast but given the circumstances, it sounds quite understandable. We have the constant threat of a new murder and Nick is running against the clock. Of course, reviving all the horror from four years before has its toll on her and Nick will have to really decide if helping her and being with her are worthy. Helping someone to heal can be exhausting, and tricky because we might think we know what the other person needs but maybe we are wrong. Here, we have a man decided to be with a beautiful woman who is not sure of herself and needs to feel loved.

The story contains a strong sexual component, which is good and it helps the story. The writing is simple and clear so it's easy to read a good amount of chapters without getting boring.

My main problem with this book (I wouldn´t call it a problem but it's the reason why I gave it three stars) is how easy was to spot the "bad guy". The only thing missing was a lighting arrow over his head to tell you "hey, here is the bad guy".
