'Strange Medicine' is a collection of eight stories. Each one explores facets of our humanity and our feelings. Written with a peculiar style the book has stories for all of us. What I love about this book, as well as the first, is the awkwardness and originality of each one of the stories. The eight of them are different and unique but they all have this aura of geniality.

Of course I liked some stories more than other but as a whole, the book is another great addition to my library.

My favorites stories are: "Seventy-Two Bricks", this one is for me an odd love story and how to move on when your significant other is no more beside you. And, "Mime", which kept me reading and reading non-stop, you have to read it to know why.

I could speak about each story but you have to read it yourself. You explore all the emotions while reading this book, some stories make you laugh, others cry and other make you think like no other book.

Another great book written by Mike Russell.

'I Still remember' not only has a beautiful cover it also has a wonderful content. In just a few pages the author describes feelings and emotions in a way that make you feel each one of them.

The book is really short and it feels like a sip of fresh air. If you are looking for something different, easy to read but with deep content, you should read this one.

I like the question in the blurb,  "How do you forget someone you've loved once?" I think you can't, but in the book, the character tries to find an answer to that question.

The book as an aura of poetry and a constant state of reflexion. Another good point, this book is set in Korea which is a good change.

Review: Hunt @lilaspam

TITLE: Hunt
SERIES: Freya Snow: Book One
AUTHOR: L.C. Mawson
RELEASE DATE: September 27th, 2015
PUBLISHER: self-published
FORMAT: Paperback & Ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy

When the Earth is reduced to a smoking crater, the only thing left to do is turn back the clock.
Lily Snow, granddaughter of Death and one of the most powerful magical beings on Earth, knows that her daughter most likely won’t survive in this timeline, so she gives her life to create another.
No one remembers the war between humanity and magical beings, and humanity has become altogether blissfully unaware of magic.
Freya Snow, now a sarcastic, awkward, probably-autistic teenager, has spent her whole life moving from foster home to foster home, wanting nothing more than to start living her life, rather than being stuck in the stasis of high school.
But when the ghost of her mother’s mentor appears to protect her from the demons hunting her, she finds that she should have been careful with her wish for change.
The world is a dangerous place, and a pup without a pack is nothing but prey.
HUNT is a YA urban fantasy novel with a dash of sci-fi. It is the first book in the Freya Snow series.
AMAZON (book one is free)

L.C. Mawson is an autistic author and blogger. When she’s not writing, she’s studying autism from a sociological standpoint. And when she’s not doing that, she’s blogging about how allistic writers can better write autistic characters, and about her life as an autistic woman in general. She also reviews current examples of autism in media on YouTube.

With an intriguing prolog that promises a lot of action, we meet Freya. After her mom decided to change the course of time, she was left alone to survive. An awkward and smart kid, Freya is a sweet teenager who only wants a place to belong. Growing up from foster house to foster house she is always afraid to do something wrong. She is a lovely character and it's easy to fall in love with her.

When a ghost appears we discover she is no regular teenager and we enter a world where magic is real. Litlle by little we learn about the different factions in an ancient war and why Freya was left alone. To accompany her we have the sweet/crazy Alice and Damon, both of them are great on their own. Of course there is a little of teenager tension between Freya and her male best friend but it's innocent and cute.

The book is easy to read, the language is simple and understandable. The dialogues are good and the pace is steady. I liked the action in the final chapters

Overall, I think is a good and entertaining book. The story has a lot of potential and I think most characters have a long way to go.

Rachel has been writing stories since as long as she can remember. An obsession with Point Horror books led to her first novel being written at the age of ten. Truth be told, it wasn't very good.

The following years were spent writing, dreaming, reading thrillers, romantic comedies, fantasies, occasionally playing guitar, and dabbling in song writing.

Rachel was born and raised in Scotland. A graduate of psychology, she now resides in South Korea. She has dabbled in teaching children, but after a few blessed years has succumbed to teaching business English to adults in Seoul.

Sometimes you get more than you wished for. This is what happened to Abigail, tired of the boys mistreating her she wishes love upon the stars but she gets more than she was waiting for. What begins as a simple wish unveils family secrets, magical creatures, and dark curses.

Abigail is a sweet character, she sounds like an innocent teenager but with a strong personality. The rest of the characters are all great, some funnier than others. I like the mystery behind one of them, despite some of it was a bit predictable.

The whole book has an aura of innocence, it's simple and easy to read and the story is easy to understand. If you are looking for something light to read you should read this one.

I do have to say I was really angry at the end, I know it is supposed to be a series but please that was a huge cliffhanger, I was screaming at my e-reader.

Review: V-Day @dtdyllin

D.T. Dyllin is a bestselling author who writes both paranormal and contemporary romance. Anything with a love story is her kryptonite. Her obsession with affairs-of-the-heart is what first drove her to begin twisting her own tales of scorching romance.

We finally came to the conclusion of this sexy series. V-Day is the book that has all the answers or most of them. Ater M-Day the world has not been the same and Vivienne knows why it all began. Litlle by little we get to witness scenes from her past and we know who was behind the virus that changed the world.

The book brings a good closure and it does not disappoint. Of course she the sister of two of our favorites characters and when she finally meets them, and the rest of the group, it feels like the circle is complete.

This time we lack some of the tension we had in the previous books I think that she and the man from her past jump quite fast in the 'relationship' or whatever you want to call it, but it's understandable as she says all the time this new world has different rules.

There are some scenes which are too hard and rough and they are the perfect example of the danger and adrenaline we had through all the series. Again, D.T. Dyllin wrote a great book to complete a fantastic series.

Camilla was born in 1984. She's an engineer that has always had a vivid imagination and a more creative approach to life. After working in a corporate job for some years, she left everything to follow her husband around the world in a new adventure. Upon finding herself with loads of free time for the first time in a long while, she decided to begin pouring some of her fantasies into words...

It all begins with Gemma and two plane tickets, each one leads to a different story. Once she makes the choice a story unravels, and we get to read about the results of each choice. It was great to read these two stories inside one book. The book is fun, easy to read and quite entertaining.

Gemma is a sweet character, she is real, funny and loyal, and her search for real love is totally understandable. I enjoy seeing her in both stories because despite being the same, Gemma changes in each version of her story.

The book has all the ingredients of a good chick-lit, there is romance, tears and good doses of laughs. It won´t take you too much time to read it and you will enjoy it for sure.

An estranged father’s weekend with his beloved five-year-old daughter turns into a nightmare when she gets into the lift of a city centre tower block and goes down without him. She vanishes without a trace. It sets off a race against time, and a nationwide manhunt, to find her. As the police investigation closes in, suspicion falls on those closest to her - with devastating consequences. Daddy Dearest is a terrifying story of love, obsession and psychological meltdown.'My daughter has always had a thing about lifts. There’s something about the thrill of pressing a button and seeing the lift doors close which excites her imagination. It terrifies me. Every time she walks in, I imagine it’s the last time I’ll see her. What if she hits the button before I get there? What if the lift doors close and I can’t get her out? It drives me nuts. There are eight floors in the Sears building, nine if you count the basement, and the lift is fast: more like a fairground ride, really. It does top to bottom in twelve seconds. I’ve timed it. Taking the stairs, I’ve done it in forty-two. That leaves a gap of thirty seconds. You’d be surprised what can happen in that time. I was.'

Following an induced labour some time in the 1960s (due date: Halloween night), I had my subscription to a normal life revoked by itinerant parents, who moved from city to city. Lived in Liverpool, Belfast, London and Leeds, then escaped to university, where I nearly died of a brain haemorrhage. After an unexpected recovery, formed an underground indie group (Sexus). Met the lead singer through standing on a bee. Made immediate plans to become rich and famous, but ended up in Manchester. Shared a house with mice, cockroaches, and slugs; shared the street with criminals. Five years later, hit the big time with a Warners record deal. Concerts at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Melody Maker front cover, Smash Hits Single of the Week, Radio 1 and EastEnders. Mixed with the reallyrich and famous. Then mixed with lawyers. Ended up back in Manchester, broke. Got a PhD in English (I am the world's leading authority on Tennyson's stage plays), then wrote my first novel, The Craze, based on my experiences of the Muslim community. Immediately nominated to the Arena X Club (the name Arena magazine gave to a select group of creative, UK-based men responsible for shaping the way their readers lived and enjoyed their lives). Wrote a second book, Brown Boys in Chocolate, which predicted the London bombings. Fell foul of the censors and subsequently gagged by the press. Got ITV interested in a story on honour killings and inter-racial marriages and was commissioned to write a screenplay (Pariah) based on my life story. ITV balked at the content. Subsequently, trod the Wasteland before finding the grail again: a book deal with children's publisher, Chicken House.Killing Sound, a YA horror set on the London Underground, was published by them in September 2014. The book, originally written for older teens (16+) and adults, was censoriously edited by the publishers to fit a much younger demographic, and inevitably failed to reach either market; the grail proved elusive and I returned to writing something it was impossible to dilute. Daddy Dearest, a dark, psychological thriller, will be released in 2016.

Wow, if I had to describe the book in just one word I would say: FASCINATING!
¨Daddy Dearest¨ felt like watching a movie, a very good suspense film where every new chapter brought a different surprise. You keep reading and reading, waiting for the outcome and you never see what´s coming.

Paul wrote an excellent book where every detail of the plot is well thought. The father´s personality is solid and believable and you get into his head to discovered an underworld beneath the real world. Every character provides something to the story and each one has a past, which makes it more complete.

I don´t want to say much about the story because I would be ruining it for you. If psychological thriller is something you enjoy, you MUST read this book.
