Katie has been through Hell—literally—and discovered that it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. In fact, she kind of enjoyed it. She got to be with Josh, found out about her past, and discovered who she wanted to be as a person. Katie didn’t care that her actions went against social norms. She was happy.
But things are changing—again. Wes has come back into her life, and that can only mean trouble. His presence threatens to unravel her new-found happiness. She can’t allow that. She won’t let him back in. Yet, Katie can’t push him away.
Thrown back into a state of confusion and uncertainty, Katie is once again forced to pick sides, and in the process, she may lose herself.

I am an editor by day and a zombie-killer by night (at least in my books). Since the first time I watched Night of the Living Dead, I have been obsessed with zombies and I often think of ways to survive the uprising.

I have written YA novels about zombies and the tough teens who survive the apocalyptic world, along with adult novels in the sci fi and fantasy genres. I have also written kids' books under the pen name J.D. Pooker.

I have written nonfiction stories for Serial Killer Magazine and published a book about slasher films called Life Lessons from Slasher Films under my real name.

Good Intentions is book three (and final) in this series that focuses on the eternal fight between good and evil. If you have read the previous books you know Katie and all the hard times she had to face. Now, she has to deal with the consequences of her actions and learn to live with the revelations about why everyone wants her soul. And to make things more interesting, Wes is back.

This book has the same atmosphere and rhythm than the other two books. There is some action, every chapter brings a new surprise and it’s quite entertaining. The dialogues are fast and the writing is very good.

What I like about this series is that presents us a girl who chooses the bad side and we are ok with it. We are so used to see the main characters of our books choosing the right side or doing what is supposed to be good that this book is refreshing. We learn along Katie that the bad side might not be so wrong after all. Of course now that Wes I back, we have again the good vs evil fight and the soul saving conflict.

Josh is a character I never fully understood, I like him for moments but for most of this book I want him out! His actions and true intentions were expectable and I’m glad how things turned out to him.

I think that the book does justice to the entire series and presents an ending that answers most questions. As usual we have to deal with Katie’s personality and her internal drama but if you enjoyed the previous books you should read this one!

Reviews: Kitty Hawk (book 2 & 3) @kittyhawkworld

Happy Birthday to me!!
That's right today I'm turning 26!
To celebrate I have to reviews for a series of books you should read :)

TITLE: Kitty Hawk and the Hunt for Hemingway's Ghost
SERIES: Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency #2
AUTHOR: Iain Reading
RELEASE DATESeptember 11th 2013
PUBLISHER: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
FORMAT: Paperback & EBook
SOURCE: complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review

Kitty Hawk and the Hunt for Hemingway's Ghost is the exciting second installment in a new series of adventure mystery stories that are one part travel, one part history and five parts adventure. This second book in the series continues the adventures of Kitty Hawk, an intrepid teenage pilot who has decided to follow in the footsteps of her hero Amelia Earhart and make an epic flight around the entire world. After flying across North America Kitty's journey takes her down south to Florida where she plans to get a bit of rest and relaxation before continuing on with the rest of her long and grueling flight. As Kitty explores the strange and magical water world of the Florida Keys her knack for getting herself into precarious situations sweeps her headlong into the adventure of a lifetime involving mysterious lights, ancient shipwrecks, razor-toothed barracudas and even a sighting of the great Ernest Hemingway himself. This exhilarating story will have armchair explorers and amateur detectives alike anxiously following every twist and turn as they are swept across the landscape and history of the Florida Keys all the way from Key West to the strange and remarkable world of Fort Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas.

In this new adventure in the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series, we accompany Kitty in her first stop during her around the world tour.

Unlike the first book in this one it seems as Kitty isn't in any real dangerous situation and she witness the action from afar. However, this is not true; she has a key role to solve the mystery behind the ghost boats and the mysterious rocks. It's true that last time she was face to face with the men behind the gold but this time she is smarter (she learnt a lot from her previous experiences) and manages to catch the bad guys without putting herself on the line of fire.

Now that she plans to go around the world, we see her being fully independent. She has to make all the choices and live with the consequences. Her last adventure helped her become a mature and confident woman with a wild spirit and a thirst to discover the world.

Again, the author uses maps and history to create a solid background. He also adds interesting facts and uses real information that helps to really imagine the scenes and the story.

The writing is very good. I loved how the author narrates the action scenes in a way that really captures the adrenaline and the emotions. It’s easy to picture the scenes as they unravel.

Like I said last time I love Kitty. She is so real and human, she is the perfect heroin for these adventures and I can’t wait to read the next one.

TITLE: Kitty Hawk and The Icelandic Intrigue
SERIES: Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency #3
AUTHOR: Iain Reading
RELEASE DATE: April 19th 2013
PUBLISHER: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
FORMAT: Paperback & EBook

Following in the footsteps of her hero Amelia Earhart, Kitty Hawk sets off on an epic flight around the world and arrives in Iceland's capital city of Reykjavik where she finds herself immersed in a beautiful alien world of volcanoes, Vikings, elves and trolls. Before she knows it Kitty is plunged head first into an amazing adventure that sweeps her across a rugged landscape where humans and nature exist side-by-side in an uneasy truce and magical realms seem to lie just out of sight beneath the surface.Kitty Hawk and the Icelandic Intrigue is the dazzling third installment of the Flying Detective Agency series featuring Kitty Hawk, an intrepid teenaged seaplane pilot with boundless curiosity and a knack for getting herself into - and out of - all kinds of precarious situations. This is a perfect book to fire the imaginations of readers of all ages - armchair explorers and amateur detectives alike. From dangerous criminals and corrupt government officials to mystical beings and clashes with the elemental forces of nature, this book has it all. Come and join Kitty Hawk as she experiences the strange and extraordinary world of the Icelanders, and unravels the Icelandic Intrigue.

Just when I thought The Kitty Hawk series couldn’t get any better, I go and read book 3 and end up loving the series even more. Book three is for me the best by far, the action takes a bigger level and the danger is mortal.

This time Kitty visits Iceland and from the moment she sets a foot on land wonderful scenarios surrounds her and a land with a rich culture receives her with open arms. I can't even explain how amazing this country looks, many of their costumes sound odd at first and their food sounds exotic. I always say that Iain does a great job describing the places and the people but this time he does an EXCELLENT job bringing color and life to a place that sounds cold and colorless when you first think about it.

As usual Kitty does an outstanding job as the heroine. She is amazing, honest, brave, funny and real. This adventure takes her to riskier places; she even has to face bullets and mysterious Russian men.

I also enjoyed how the author included some of the Icelandic folklore and used the magic and fantasy from local people to complete the story. And of course I have to talk about the environmental aspect of the story. I’m quite a green person so I really loved that he used this opportunity to talk about a topic that involves us all.

I can’t wait to read more of Kitty’s adventures and her journey around the world.

About the series:

There are currently five books in the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series: Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold (book 1), Kitty Hawk and the Hunt for Hemingway's Ghost (book 2), Kitty Hawk and the Icelandic Intrigue (book 3), and Kitty Hawk and the Tragedy of the RMS Titanic (book 4), and Kitty Hawk and the Mystery of the Masterpieces(book 5). Each book can be read as a standalone.

“In the Kitty Hawk Flying Detective Agency Series the heroine finds herself in a new geographic location in each book. The series will eventually have a total of 13 books in it (maybe more) and her flight around the world will be completed in the end,” says Iain. “The books are sequential but one could definitely read any of the later ones before reading the earlier ones.”

Paperback Fountain of Youth

By Jennifer Bryce

For most of us, aging is not something we look forward to after twenty-five. I am one of those people that would like to stop the clock—maybe even turn it back ten years.

The reason why I like YA so mush is that it enables me to relive the best years of my life vicariously through reading and writing books. It is my paperback Fountain of Youth. My curiosity led me to ask some of my author friends and fans why they love reading YA. Here are their top ten:

1. It’s an escape from reality. (Isn’t that the truth! When you’re elbow deep in dirty dishes and have a screaming kid at your knees, its time to escape.)

2. You’re most likely to get a cleaner story.

3. My body may be nearing 40 but I still feel like I’m 23 in my mind.

4. Plots are just better, faster paced with better characters.

5. The stories often have first romances that remind you of your own first love.

6. YA stories often have a killer combo of magic found in youth thrown into adult situations.

7. I can date a different hunk on any night of the week without the adult sexual content that makes me uncomfortable.

8. We like a good story whether it’s designated YA or not.

9. There are a lot of good YA authors.
10. I like the style/content of YA.

I love this list, like I love YA. The YA genre, in my opinion, is one of the most widely read. We all watched mothers stand in line with their teen daughters wearing Team Edward or Team Jacob shirts. YA merged generations of readers together in epic The most interesting theme that kept recurring in the poll was that even adults didn’t want explicit sexual content found in adult books. I whole-heartily agree. For me, the romance is in the anticipation of the first kiss or the slight brush of a hand found in first loves. Growing up, I read a particular series of romances that were stories written about major events in history. The thing about these books is that I could read them at thirteen or thirty-five and still enjoy the story because they were clean and interesting. I hadn’t discovered paranormal romances yet as it probably wasn’t such a big thing as it is now, but I probably would have surfaced only for food and water if I had. I’m not saying all YA fiction is clean. There have been a few that I had to throw out because of the smut, but your chances are better to find a cleaner.

Whether you are fourteen or forty, YA has something for you.

Jennifer has a brain that is never quiet, even in her sleep, so she uses writing as an escape to be and do anything she can imagine. Raised in southern Arizona she was influenced by the Old West, being raised a cop’s daughter, and eating Mexican food. She is a busy mother o three rambunctious boys, married to her amazing cowboy, recently graduated from nursing school, and desperately needs a long vacation. Her biggest fear in life is to be completely mediocre.

Her first book with Vinspire Publishing is Haley’s Song, a clean western romance that reviewers call “a feel good escape”.

Everyone who comments is will be entered into a drawing for five YA books of their choice and a $5.00 Amazon Gift Card.

The finale to Bear and Thia's epic love story.

“I’m going to remember this as the worst time in my entire life. The very worst.”
She shook her head. “There is nothing I can do to change that.  Girls my age are
playing sports, going to dances and parties, kissing boys.  And that’s never been me.  I’ve had a full time job at the grove and a part time job at the Stop-N-Shop. I’ve done nothing over the last few years except work my ass off and watch my family fall apart. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse…now all this.”  She waived around to the house and to me and let out an awkward laugh. She took another hit off the bowl, passing it back to me.  Her coughing much less than it was on her first try.
“Ti, how old are you?”  I asked, clearing my throat as I ventured into territory I knew I shouldn’t.  She was a pistol, even if she was a sad one, but there was a wave of innocence about her that had me both feeling bad for her and salivating for a taste of her.
This is for her, not you. I told myself.  It was only a partial lie.
“Seventeen,” She said, sniffling.  “Eighteen soon.”
“You ever been kissed?” I asked, her eyes met mine. “And not a peck on the cheek or a brief smack of the lips, but a real fucking kiss? One that leaves you without air in you lungs and your thighs pressing together in search of more?”  I said, my voice coming out deep and strained.  My cock coming alive at the thought of tracing my tongue along her pump lips.
“Why?” She whispered, and as soon as the words left her mouth I knew there would be no coming back from what I was about to do.
I pushed off the fire pit and pulled her up off the chair, pressing her tits into my chest and my straining cock against her stomach.  I tipped her chin up and looked into her confused emerald greens. She followed my thumb with her eyes as I traced her bottom lip.  There were too many lines marring her face, questioning what it was I was up to.  I knew she would try to pull away at any second, try to stop me.  But it was too late for that.
I was beyond stopping.
Just one taste.
“Answer the question,” I pressed.
“No,” she said with a slight shake of her head, and before she could try to argue, I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers.
I was already going to hell.
Might as well enjoy the ride there.

TITLE: Wicked Magic
SERIES: Weeping Willow #2
AUTHOR: Sandra Madera

PUBLISHER: self-published
FORMAT: paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review.

After a time of peace, Willow's world is turned on its side when Nalin is captured and taken into the Underworld. (YA Fiction Novel, intended for ages 16 and up).
Just when Willow and Nalin were ready to bind their life forces in a marriage ceremony, their time of peace has ended.
Willow finds out a secret that is both the cause of their union and exile. Daphne, Nalin’s evil sister, has gathered a group of powerful allies in her quest to regain the Ljósálfar kingdom and overthrow their newly formed government. Hoping to separate Willow and Nalin forever, Daphne casts her brother into the darkest and deadliest realm imaginable... Hades.
However, Daphne never expected Willow to delve into the depths of hell to reunite with her lost love and try to set things right. Rules have been broken... Deals have been made... How much is Willow willing to risk to save Nalin’s soul?

Just when things seem to look bright and easy, Nalin is captured and taken to the Underworld. Willow decides not to hear his recommendation of forgetting about him and sets on a quest to rescue him. Her adventures take her to dangerous paths and she meets new allies along the way. She learns more about her creation and Nalin's past.

The rhythm is fast and it's full of surprises. The Underworld is a place full of danger and obstacles. The writing is very good, with colorful and detailed descriptions. It has alternating POV that helps us view the whole picture and understand what’s going on with both characters.

Willow has to take the reins of her life and make many mistakes. Some of them were obvious but I think it’s ok to have a character that is not perfect.

The book ends with a huge cliffhanger that leaves you feeling frustrated.

TITLE: Wicked Love
SERIES: Weeping Willow #3
AUTHOR: Sandra Madera
RELEASE DATE: February 1st 2015
PUBLISHER: self-published
FORMAT: paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review.

Waking up in a foreign land, Nalin ventures home only to find that it is not as he remembers it. His parents are dead and buried. His sister has been ruling in his place. He is wounded, and he dreams strange things... about a girl who calls out to him in the darkness. Now that Nalin has returned to the Realm of Magic, the Elves hope that the end of the war is near, and the Ljósálfar can finally defeat the Dökkálfar after driving them underground. However, it becomes clear that Nalin is not himself, and he knows it. He can’t remember a large portion of his life, and his parents have been killed. Everyone around him is just as oblivious to the time that has been robbed from them. Everyone except for the one that calls himself Avery. Nalin senses dark magic is at work when Avery talks of a raven-haired Elfling that traveled to the Realm of Disorder to save him from the clutches of the Dark King, a girl that has not returned. The same girl that cries out to him from his dreams.Nalin knows better than to trust his Dökkálfar enemy, but something tells him this Elfling is not an ordinary girl. He is determined to find the one called Willow and set time right.

Wicked Love is by far my favorite book in the Weeping Willow Series. This one has a darker tone. The characters are more mature and complex. Willow shows us a different side of her and Nalin is so broken that you can almost touch the pain.

Nalin is becoming a favorite of mine. This time he is more determined and we see a side of him we didn’t know. We get to know the good and the bad, his bloodlust is well built and I find it very interesting. And his vulnerable side makes him more real and believable.

Willow is totally different than the girl we used to know and I found her dark side more interesting than her other personalities.

There is more blood, more fights and a sense of urgency during the whole book. Nalin needs to find Willow and nothing will get on his way.

As the other books the writing is good, the descriptions are great and the dialogues move the story on a steady pace.
Of course there is a cliffhanger because a next book is planned but I didn't was upset by it.

R P Channing started writing three years ago, but never published anything even after churning out over a million words of fiction. Thirst: Blood of my Blood is the first book he dared to publish. When asked why, he said, “Because it’s the first thing I wrote that my wife actually enjoyed reading.” When not hammering away (most literally) at his keyboard, he can be found buried in a book, reading anything from romance to horror to young adult to non-fiction to comedy. If it has words in it, I’ll take it.
