Review: Teacher Beware @CRaineBooks

TITLE: Teacher Beware
SERIES: A Grace Ellery Romantic Suspense Book 1
AUTHOR: Charlotte Rain
RELEASE DATE: December 8th 2014
PUBLISHER:  Arrabella Publishing
FORMAT: Paperback & Ebook
SOURCE: Free on Amazon

Thirty-one year old Grace Ellery survived being stabbed multiple times in Ohio. Two years later, she moves to Murray, Virginia to get a new lease on life.
On her first day of substitute teaching, her new life is nearly cut short when she finds herself in the middle of a shooting that leaves a married couple dead. Luckily, she is saved by Sam Meadows, a cardiologist, but the shooter has disappeared by the time the police come around.
When the shooter tries to kill Grace again, Sam and Grace realize that the killer won’t stop until she is dead. With a killer who has nothing to lose, the question isn’t if the killer will attack again, but when and who will be in the crosshairs. A romance/murder-mystery wrapped in the aspects of life: love, family, forgiveness, danger, and death.
Charlotte Raine is the author of several romantic suspense books with more on the way. She worked in marketing and advertising for 15 years before focusing on her true passion, telling great stories. Charlotte gets inspiration for her writing from the scenic but serene mountains around her home in Vail, Colorado.

When she is not writing you will find her after a long day of skiing at one of the many lodges in Vail. She will most likely be next to a warm fire, drinking a glass of wine and telling stories.

Teacher Beware is a really good suspense story with a touch of romance and action. Told from different points of view, this story is dynamic, fast and pretty entertaining. I have to warn you that it ends with a cliffhanger despite solving the most important mystery. If you still want to read it, it's free on Amazon (so go and grab your copy).

This is the story of Grace Ellery a substitute teacher who recently moved to the tranquil Murray, Virginia. Unfortunately, she witnesses a shooting and becomes the target of a disturbed teenager. From then on the story mixes romance, suspense and violent attacks.

A survivor of a previous attack, Grace is a nice character. Mature and sensible she is a likeable person. Sam doesn't see himself as a hero but he ends up being very important to the story and Grace.

The book is told from the point of view of the three main characters and it also has some time jumps. For me this was a really good thing because it allows us to see the bigger picture and also it helps us understand why each one is the way he or she is.

The romance is simple but sweet. It evolves in a fast rhythm but is believable. I really liked Grace and Sam.

And despite knowing who is behind the attacks from the beginning of the book, it’s exciting to read how their paths mingle and figuring out what he would do next.

Overall, this is a great book with both romance and suspense.

Review: Aeromancist: The Beginning @CharmainePauls

TITLE: Aeromancist: The Beginning
SERIES: Seven Forbidden Arts #1.5
AUTHOR: Charmaine Pauls
RELEASE DATE: May 14th 2015
PUBLISHER: Satin Romance
FORMAT: Paperback & ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review

Passion always comes with a price.
All that Russian aeromancist Lann Dréan wants, is to enjoy a month of peace in the privately owned convent in Santiago he is turning into a home. When an American literature student walks into his library of ancient books, his holiday intentions change. The untouchable Lann is inexplicably enraptured. For all his famed control, he cannot stay away from Katherine White. Gifted with a hunted talent and a price on his head, the best Lann can offer Kat are thirty days of unrivalled passion before returning to his paranormal crime taskforce in New York. If Kat consents to his terms, she will agree to walk away on Day Thirty. Forever. But his uncontainable desire comes with an unforeseen price.
Note: This is a novella of 170 pages. It is the prequel to Book 2, Seven Forbidden Arts, and contains a cliffhanger.
It contains frequent, consummated love scenes and graphic language. Reader discretion is advised.

South African born Charmaine Pauls is a gypsy at heart who likes to look at the world from the lens of her camera. She writes dark and paranormal romance novels. The author currently resides in Chile with her husband and children.

Aeromancist: The Beginning is a prequel to what it will be a full lenght story. But let me tell you that if this is the beginning, OMG! I can't imagine the rest. This was a hell of a ride, full of emotion, tension, sexiness and romance.

This is the story of Lann Dréan, a sexy Russian who bought an ancient convent in Santiago (Chile) meant to be his refuge for a month. Then appear Katherine, an american student who uses his library for investigation purpose. When these two meet, sparks fly and you can smell the lust in the air.

Of course Lann is a mystery and has many secrets but reading about him is intoxicating. I'm sure he is dream of every woman with his alpha male personality. His presence is overwhelming, he's the kind of man that sucks the air of a room when he walks in. Sexy, strong, intelligent, well mannered and rich he will offer Kat a world changing experience.

Kat is a really great character too, I like that she hesitated before saying yes to Lann's offer and she sounded quite real. Her personality makes her a likeable person and can't wait to read more about her.

This novella focuses in their "romance-affair-contract" and it's breathtaking. The sex scenes are hot as hell, there is a tension that grows up until there is no room for anything else. I love every single detail about them.

I only give it a half a star less because the paranormal element is not as strong as in other Charmaine books. However, I'm reading the next book ASAP.

Review: Cado @DTDyllin

RELEASE DATE: October 26th 2015
PUBLISHER: Tik Tok Press
FORMAT: Paperback & Ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review

Is the love of a bad man as fulfilling as that of a good man—if he’s good to you?The fantasy for most women is the happily ever after, the white knight or the prince charming. Or maybe they imagine the hero swoops in to save them from their mundane existence. But what happens if you catch the attention of the villain instead? Tiffany aka Karma is about to find out…Karma isn’t just a name; it’s a way of life for an exotic dancer with a taste for vigilante justice. She should have been more careful though, because her deeds haven’t gone completely unnoticed. A man who isn’t quite human, with the predilection for destruction, has set his sights on her. His brand of love is tainted…twisted, and Karma is powerless to resist.

D.T. Dyllin is a bestselling author who writes both paranormal and contemporary romance. Anything with a love story is her kryptonite. Her obsession with affairs-of-the-heart is what first drove her to begin twisting her own tales of scorching romance.

D.T. was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Black & Gold for life, baby!) She now lives in Little Rock, Arkansas with her husband and two spoiled German Shepherds.

I wasn't ready for this. I was left speechless for two days after reading this book. D.T. Dyllin has put the bar even higher for her books.

To say that Cado is a touching story would be too simple. This one is a powerful, vibrant and sexy story. It has all the elements to become one of your favorites of all times. It was an exhausting reading and not in a bad way. The level of emotions and feelings running through the pages is overwhelming.

Cado is the story of Karma, whose real name is Tiffany, an exotic dancer who likes to take justice by her own hands. A special and odd ability allows her to see the bad side of people (mostly men) and she uses it to choose who to punish. It all changes when a mysterious man appears on her life and things get out of control.

I can't say much about the plot because anything would be a spoiler. There are shocking revelations and some are more disturbing than others. I think the author created a solid background, thought of every detail to end up with a solid story.

Karma has some of the traits we find in every female character created by Dara but somehow she is totally different. She is stronger than most of us and some of the choices she had to make required an amount of willpower I'm sure most of us don't have. She is extraordinary and I loved every part of her. I will only say that the main male character was AMAZING!

I'm so glad the blurb didn't give anything away and I jumped right in into the unknown only to find a story that affected me and touched me in a way that no many books can. Like I said the emotions felt too real, the author has a gift with words, there is no deny that and this time she did a great job. I could feel everything and despite being draining I loved every minute of it.

Review: Broken

TITLE: Broken
SERIES: Broken Series #1
AUTHOR: Annie Jocoby
RELEASE DATE: January 6th 2014
PUBLISHER: self-published
FORMAT: paperback & Ebook
SOURCE: complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review.

Nick O'Hara is, for lack of a better word, a man-wh***. Look in the Urban Dictionary under that word, and his name will no doubt be mentioned. The only qualifications that he looks for in a bed-mate is that the person is hot and breathing. Mainly hot. He has no desire for an emotional connection with another person, and that's the way he lives his life. He has his fabulous wealth and his reputation as a premiere architect, and that's enough for him.
Until Scotty James.
Scotty is a graduate student at Columbia University in New York City. She's broken from traumatic experiences from her years in foster care and homelessness. She has a vulnerability that is intoxicating to Nick, because, deep down, he knows that he is as broken as she.
When Nick pursues Scotty, it seems that she is the only woman who doesn't want to be with him. At first she's a challenge, but Nick soon finds himself falling in love for the first time in his life. With a woman who wants nothing to do with him.
Can Scotty overcome her trust issues and fear to let Nick in? Or will she prove to be too broken to trust?

Broken is the story of two opposite souls with broken pasts that meet to finally encounter someone who can help them be the best version of themselves. Nick is a rich, successful architect who has a fame of being kind of a manwhore. A very sexual person he is accustomed to obtain pleasure from both women and men. Then, in the other corner we have Scotty, a graduate student, with nothing more than a bartender salary and a traumatic past.

They start as teacher and student to move on into more. He will have the necessity to protect her and she will find the support to heal. Of course that the things between these two will be shaky, there is tons of sexual tension and drama but it's easy to understand why they act the way they do.

I have to mention that the author chose to give the main female character a past that is dark and hard to read. You have to be careful when you do this because you don't want to offend no one. However, she did a great job creating a solid past, believable and despite dealing with such hard topics the reading is not hard.

The writing is good, the dialogues are ok and the characters have a bit of growing. Overall, the plot is complete and you can see where the story is going. There is too much drama for moments and some clichés but if you like romance it's easy to enjoy the story.

Nick wasn't my favorite; he was perfect for moments but too annoying at others. Maybe in the next books he has an improvement. Scotty was perfect playing the vulnerable, fragile woman and can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
