Life brings surprises in all forms, shapes and most of them come when you least expect them. Love, family, dreams and hard work are a combo ready to create a great story and that's what we got when we read On the Edge.
Andy Parker is a supportive mother willing to help his daughter to succeed as a snowboarder, who juggles two jobs to support the costs that come with it and who happen to be a widow on her mid-thirty. Of course none of this makes Andy a weak woman; on the contrary she is a fierce mother, strong, supportive, loving and honest. Her comfortable and uneventful life is thrown out of its way when her daughter starts to accomplish big hits as a snowboarder and love comes knocking on her door.
On The Edge is more than a simple love story. For me is a story about a woman who makes her daughter and her dreams a priority without neglecting herself. She is still a young woman who deserves happiness and love. It's about being true to yourself and your beliefs. And above all it's about taking risks if happiness is what you want.
Andy is a great character. The author has the gift to create characters that sound human and real, you can relate to her and every emotion she goes through. Hayden Grace was also a really good character, she is a nice girl, devoted to her dream and really cool and relaxed. And the only thing I will say about Paul is: dreamy. He was a perfect addition for the story.
I love how the author and the characters handled the father's death. Andy and Hayden Grace talk about him without idolizing him or creating weird situations for the rest. He was there for them without being physically present but they could move on and live without regrets.
Snow and sports are a big element of this story and for someone who has never seen the snow or has practiced ski or any other sport related to it, I have to say that the author descriptions of the different places and the events was extraordinary. It was easy to imagine each jump or trick done in the pipe.
On The Edge has an excellent writing style¸ flawless and easy to read. The story flows naturally and it goes by fast.
If romance is a genre you enjoy you should try this one. You have great characters, beautiful scenarios and very entertaining dialogues.
This one is another great book by the lovely T.S. Krupa.
