Remy Galway and her daughter Olivia are rebuilding their life after a failed marriage in a 300 year old cottage in historic Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island. Little do they know, another occupant is lurking in the haven of their own home. Will the After House be their shelter or their tomb?

Michael Phillip CashBorn and raised on Long Island, Michael has always had a fascination with horror writing and found footage films. He wanted to incorporate both with his debut novel, Brood X. Earning a degree in English and an MBA, he has worked various jobs before settling into being a full-time author.
He currently resides on Long Island with his wife and children.

After a failed marriage Remy buys an old house as a chance to rebuilt her life. What she doesn't know is that the house host a non-expected occupant.

The first chapters of the book are a quick summary of how Remy ended up where she is. It also includes a prologue that narrates the experiences of the captain of a whaling ship. This part of the book is good because it allows us to get into the story knowing all the facts. Despite the fast passing you get to understand the bigger picture. Now.. when the main story starts the rhythm settles up to the end when the action occurs really fast.

Remy is a hurt woman, which is understandable after everything she went through. She only wants to move on and raise her child. Olivia is a sweet kid, however you never know how old she is. I would have like to know her age. Eli, the captain, is an interesting character. Obviously he is ghost because he has some unfinished business. I like how protective he is and how easy he loses his temper.

The book also includes a sweet love story. It was a good addition and the author creates a pure, natural and lovely relationship.

There were minor issues that didn't work very well for me. One was the bad guy, his action seemed rushed and there aren't much explanation about why he acts the way he does. I understand that is not a long book so you need to find out who he behind the attacks and solve that problem but I needed more. Another thing, where the other two ghost, why were they there? Totally unnecessary.

Overall, if you look a fast, easy to read and good written story that includes ghost, this one is a good choice.
