Series: Standalone
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Tik Tok Press

Love and sex, sex and love… Can you have one without the other?
As a world famous porn star, Alexa James thinks she has everything all figured out. But what happens when someone who gets paid to have sex has an existential crisis?
Suddenly sex isn’t enough, and love seems out of reach.
Will Alexa’s career choice permanently crush her spirit? Or will she discover that real love is about more than just the physical?

D.T. Dyllin is a Bestselling Romance Author who writes in both New Adult and Adult genres. She is a member of the RWA (Romance Writers of America) and also her local chapter, the MCRW (Music City Romance Writers).

D.T. was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Black & Gold for life, baby!) She now lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband and two spoiled GSDs.

When you are a porn star, have a great body, love having sex and your face is known by most men you wouldn't expect one of them saying no. That's what Alexa has to face when she meets David. Suddenly she wants more than sex and love seems an option.

Alexa is a likeable character despite her profession. She is an interesting woman with some strong thoughts and opinions about life. David seems to be a centered man who is drawn to Alexa and what lies beneath. When they get together there is a lot of tension and sparkles. However, as you can imagine things get better once they give in to their desire.

The story has a few interesting twists and there is a bit of action and drama. The secondary characters have small parts in the story but some of their actions change the course of it.

The writing is really good, as usual with Dara's books. The temperature rises in all the right places and the scenes will not disappoint you.

There was only one thing I didn't like and it's how often she tries to justify her choice of career. She states that she simply likes sex but in the story we found what looks like psychological explanations on how she always looks for love and acceptance from men and people in general, so sex and exhibitionism are the way she finds them. Don't get me wrong I like when the character’s personality has some sort of fundament but she sounds like a cliché. “A parentless girl and a screwed up childhood ends up being a porn star”... I would have expected something different.

In general, I liked the story and couldn’t put it down. I read it in only 2 days because somehow the writing catches you and you need to know what comes next. Another good story by the lovely D.T. Dyllin.

Cade by - Review

Cade (Le Beau Brothers, #1)
Title: Cade
Author: V.A. Dold
Series: Le Beau Brothers #1
Release Date: March 16th 2014
Format: Paperback & ebook
Publisher: Vickie Dold
Source:  complimentary copy from the author in exchange of an honest review.

Anna James is single again, finally. In her opinion, men are self-centered and will never love her for who she is, a beautiful, plus sized woman. All except the fantasy man that she’s been meeting in her dreams for five years.
She just never expected her fantasy to be a real live alpha shifter...

Cade Le Beau isn't what he seems. He’s a billionaire wolf. A Shifter. He laments his missed chance six months ago to meet his fantasy woman in the flesh. Just as his second chance presents itself, his fantasy woman, his mate, is threatened by the local mob boss and her ex-husband. Now, he has forty eight hours to deal with this threat once and for all or chance losing her again.

Is it Anna who’s in danger, or the humans who unwittingly threaten her?

The heat is on the moment they lay eyes on each other. Neither, age, children, horrid ex-husbands, nor mob bosses will stop this love affair.

V.A. Dold is the best author of the Le Beau Brothers series, New Orleans wolf shifter novels. A graduate of Saint Cloud University, she majored in marketing with a minor in reading romance paperbacks. Prior to becoming a full time writer, she was Publicist to the authors, owning ARC Author & Reader Con's. Still is. Her idea of absolute heaven is a day in the French Quarter with her computer, her coffee mug and the Brothers, of course.
A Minnesota native with her heart lost to Louisiana, she has a penchant for titillating tales featuring sexy men and strong women. When she's not writing, she's probably taking in a movie, reading, or traveling.
Her earliest reading memories are from grade school. She had a major fixation with horses, and the Black Stallion was a favorite. Then junior high came along and teenage hormones kicked in. It became all about the Harlequin Romances. She has been hooked on romances ever since.

Cade is a paranormal romance with a sexy vibe. However, there were a few things that didn't work out so well.

Anna is finally divorced, in a new city and trying to move on. She has spent the last 5 years having vivid, sexy, incredibles dreams about a man too perfect to be true. As you suspect, this dream man turns out to be real and a shifter. From the moment they lay eyes on each other everything moves extremely fast.

I liked Anna but sometimes she seemed younger and too naivé. She accepts everything Cade tells her without questioning or freaking out and this was too annoying. I wish she had freaked out at least once.

Cade as Anna says is perfect. Billionare, hot, honest and boring. Yes! I said boring... please I need a flaw to make him more real. I love how supportive, caring and loving he is towards Anna but I needed more.

The story has all the elements to be a great paranormal story but some explanations are too simple and some of them come a bit too late.

The romance is good, the temperature reaches high levels from time to time and the scenes are quite good. The author does a good work describing the passion and love between them.

There is some action present with good doses of fights, danger and suspense.

Overall, if you like sweet romance (with happy ever after and all) paranormal stories and shifters you might enjoy this book.

The Lure of Shapinsay

Format: Paperback & Ebook
Publisher: Sweet River Romance

Ever since Kait Swanney could remember, the old crones of the village have been warning her to stay away from the selkies. They claim that like sirens of old, the seal men creep from the inky waters, shed their skins, and entice women to their deaths beneath the North Sea. But avoiding an encounter becomes impossible when Kait is spotted at the water’s edge, moments after the murder of a half-selkie infant.
Unexpectedly, Kait is awoken by a beautiful, selkie man seeking revenge. After she declares her innocence, the intruder darts into the night, but not before inadvertently bewitching her with an overpowering lure.
Kait obsesses over a reunion deep beneath the bay and risks her own life to be reunited with her selkie. But when she lands the dangerous lover, the chaos that follows leaves Kait little time to wonder—is it love setting her on fire or has she simply been lured?

A simply way to describe this story could be just label it like a "Love story". But it's much more than that. We all adore love stories and that's because love stories are always full with emotions, and those who includes fantastic creatures are even more breathtaking... This story made me hold my breath more than once. I really love this story because it introduces us to a new kind of creature: the selkies!

The selkies are described like beautiful men that lure human women and everything in them is atractive! Their story is very interesting, and I believe that Krista made a wonderful job describing their origins. And particularly, the Selkie man in this story is incredible! it's imposible not to love him and everything that happens to him and Katie feels like a roller coaster.

It's easy to feel related to the love that they share because that's what love is... is like an enchantment that blinds us from the rest of the world. It makes us feel that the only place we can be happy is next to the one we love. And sometimes we feel like we've been lure and even the mere presence of the other person causes us real pain.

That's why this book is so great, they have to deal with a lot of obstacles, some of them very common for most couples and some related to the nature of their species.

A great story recomendable for everyone who likes a great romance involving humans and fantastic creatures.

The Girl They Sold to the Moon - Review

The Girl They Sold to the Moon
Title: The Girl They Sold to the Moon
Author: Chris Stevenson
Release Date:
July 2nd 2014
Format: Paperback & Ebook
Intrigue Publishing

Eighteen-year-old Tilly Breedlove's father has sold her into a form of modern day slavery on Luna-the Tranquility Harbor Mining Company, 240,000 miles from home. Family Trade and Loan, an unscrupulous company, is more than willing to take her on and exploit her talent.
Forced to be an exotic dancer, she performs risque shows for the filthy, but filthy rich ore miners--a far cry from her classical and modern dance training. If she isn't resisting obscene advances from bearded "Prairie Dogs," she's fending off jealous head-liner acts who view her as a threat to their status-and when those jealous showgirls say "break a leg," they aim to cause it. The only reprieve she finds in this shop of horrors is a few close ward friends, a sympathetic dance coach/choreographer, and Buddy Gunner Bell, who just might become the love of her life. It's just enough to stem her psychological meltdown.
A tragedy on the Moon base lands Tilly back on Earth. Tilly plots a daring escape plan with her friends. Their plan requires split-second timing and a daring dash. If she can just get past the corporation's airtight security.

I still don't know how I feel about this book. A part of me loves the idea behind the story and enjoyed the light Sci-fi element. However, the other half of me hated some things that were way too predictable and neither did I like the main character.

Let's start with the good. The idea of people pawning their kids for loans is really interesting (not to say hilarious). In a future world, where this is possible, Tilly is sold by her father and is sent to the Moon. There she works as an entertainer, which isn't that bad because she loves dancing and performing.

So far the story is good. It has a good dose of friendship, surviving and the world is well built. Most details are in the right place, the rules and scenarios sound believable. And it also has a little romance despite the rules against fraternize with other wards.

Now, let's go into the things I didn't like. The passing is really fluctuating. We have days that are described with detail and with a fast passing and then we have weeks where nothing happens so the story skip forward with no emotion. Also I found some outcomes really unnecessary, like Fia's true identity. And the escaping plan comes too late for me.

In case you are wondering why I said earlier I didn't like the main character, well… mainly because she never truly becomes the strong young woman the book needs. At first she is presented as an independent girl who is not afraid of speaking her mind. But then she accepts things without questioning them. And she has this rival who is really wicked but only thinks about revenge when Buddy (a sweet guy who is well described) tells her to play fire with fire.

Like I said, the idea is original and very interesting. I think some people will enjoyed this book more than I did.

Love's Paradox - Review

Stalked by her abusive ex-fiancé, Rae Zachery retaliates by singing karaoke and spilling all their dirty secrets to the entire bar. When her ex attempts to silence her brazen performance, sexy, leather-clad Parker comes to her rescue and soundly punches her ex in the face. As valiant and comedic as that may be, Rae finds Parker’s violent assistance unsettling, yet she can’t help but be drawn to him and his tragic past.
Fighting her attraction for Parker is a battle Rae can’t win, and soon their night of sharing secrets morphs into an undeniable bond. But fate won’t so easily relinquish her grip on their romantic, happily-ever-after. Instead of blissfully skipping into obscurity, Rae and Parker are subjected to her ex-fiancé’s vicious proclivities. Who knew love could hurt so good?
Get lost in this contemporary romance with just enough comedy, drama, and suspense to keep you on your toes.

Love’s Paradox is a story about abusive relationships. It’s a story that show us that healing is possible and also that giving love a chance can be a great decision. But for me the story gives a glimpse of how abuse affects people outside the relationship. It's a great demonstration of how this situation becomes a virus that contaminates many lives.

The book present us to Rae, who has just left an abusive boyfriend when meets Parker. He comes as the knight in shining armor ready to save her from the claws of an evil man. The tension between them is amazing. It’s everything you expect and more. You can feel the attraction and how they fight it only because they are afraid of getting hurt.

Rae is a nice character. She has all the characteristics of a woman who lived a difficult relationship, there are moments where she clearly sees herself as the victim she is, but also she blames herself for the outcome. For me, this make the book feel real, she is not perfect and tries to become the person she used to be but also she has to live with the consequences of her past relationship.

Parker is this sexy, honest, successful and caring man who comes to give her a new chance in love. For moments he seems too perfect to be true. I keep waiting for a flaw that never comes. He even is good in bed (and more than good) so for me he needs a defect (I could accept snoring just to make him more real). And the best part is that he is only twenty-something.

The writing is ok. The sexual tension is well built and the sex scenes are amazing (taking out Mr. Perfection). I could say that the story moves way too fast. I know that when violent men are involved a second can make a difference but there were things that for me were unnecessary.

I have to mention the ending. Without giving much away, I will only say that I laughed for a great part of it because it was unbelievable. I know incredible things happen in real life and author can do whatever they want with their stories but the ending was too much. Still, I loved the epilogue.
