Stealing Breath - Review

It's almost the end of the week.
Here is raining today :) which is the perfect excuse to stay in reading.

I have to thank Joanne for the copy of her book.

Stealing Breath
by Joanne Brothwell.

Deep in the backwoods of North Dakota, twenty-one year old Sarah Ross is searching for a missing child when she is attacked by a glowing-eyed, transparent... creature. Sarah survives, destroying the monster by using mysterious abilities she didn't even know she had. Bloody and bruised, Sarah flees the scene and runs directly into Evan Valente, a handsome, charismatic stranger who helps her back to safety. But what is Evan doing out in the forest at five in the morning? Turning to a healer, Sarah is shocked to learn her eyes bear the mark of the Indigo Child-an evolved human with the ability to feel the emotions of others. But her indigo aura also makes her an easy target for those who wish to consume her powerful essence. Soon, Sarah is falling deeply in love with Evan and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and trust that he is the man he says he is. But she can't ignore the lingering feeling that Evan is hiding a terrible secret. The deeper she digs, the more danger she faces, leading her on a course that will force her to face the darkest, innermost parts of her soul.

MY REVIEW.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Magic, power, stealers of souls and a new guy, all mixed to create a good paranormal book. Stealing Breath has all the ingredients to create a sexy, thrilling and exciting story.

A book that start really fast without further preamble when Sarah is attacked in an abandoned house, escaping thanks to a secret ability, she meets immediately Evan. New in town, Evan is a sexy man who comes to her life only to bring in love and danger.

The book moves to some crucial revelations and the action begins. Sarah discovers a whole new world where Skinwalkers (very danger people) are real and a threat to her because she is more special than everyone thinks. An ancient power is after her and we are drag into a turbulent ride of magic, auras and souls, special abilities, spells and much more.

Evan is this mysterious guy who rapidly falls in love with her and will become part of the action. A secret side of him is revealed and Sarah has to face danger from the most unexpected places, great evil and the scariest nightmares, all of which helps Sarah become a very strong woman.

Stealing Breath is a fast and really electrifying book. The story moves very fast, the bad guys are put out in the open very soon and the whole book Sarah is fighting against them.

The romantic side of the story is really good to read, the love grows faster than you expect but it only adds more condiment to the story. The love between Sarah and Evan is really intense and strong, creating a bond that will help them through the hardest times.

A couple things that could have been better, for example we don’t know much about Sarah and for moments I forgot about her family. She is supposed to have both parents and I understand that she is an adult but a lot happens in her life and her family doesn’t hear about that.

It has a good ending but we have to wait for book two because there are a few things unsolved. Overall, a good reading with a solid base (a bit overwhelming at times).

  2. I didn't understand this book. In what time was it set? Where they in a village or something? The only thing I liked were her indigo eyes
